Can grandparents be awarded custody time-sharing of their grandchildren in Florida?
In Florida, grandparents do not have rights to their grandchildren. However, there are two primary ways where a grandparent or grandparents can be awarded parenting time or time-sharing with their grandchildren. The first is in a dependency action, when a child or children are removed from a parent for abuse, neglect or abandonment reasons. The second occasion in which a grandparent would have time-sharing with a grandchild is when one or both parents has voluntarily authorized the grandparent to have parenting time or time-sharing with their child as a result of, let's say, military deployment or the like.
